Group Guidlines

  1. Choose a Reading. You can choose to discuss a chapter of the bible, a Bible Story, a paricope or passage, or group of passages, of scripture, a theological topic, a devotion, a chapter in a theology book, or an article addressing a theological issue. It’s quite an open format. Limit the “Reading” to about 15 minutes. Remember, the reading should be theological in nature and must include scripture.
  2. Discuss. Discuss the reading together. Your chosen reading may have its own action points and questions to engage. Some sample questions to help ge the conversations going:
What did you like about today’s reading?
Did anything in today’s reading bother you? Why?
What does today’s reading teach us about God?
What does today’s reading teach us about People?
  3. Be willing to agree to disagree. We share our core beliefs, that’s what we stand on. All else we can leave open handed, for each individual to weigh, ponder and accept or reject. If you must speak in disagreement, address your concerns with the viewpoint, why you believe otherwise, don’t attack the other members of the group. This is not the venue for gossip, or verbal assaults. Feel free to express your views, opinions, interpretations, and beliefs, but don’t expect everyone to adopt your worldview. (2 Tim. 2:14, Ephesians 4:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 5:21, Acts 17:11)
  4. Limit your sharing to three to five minutes. This is a group discussion, listen to understand not to reply. Chew on some stuff first before speaking. This is not your soap box, none of us are the star of the show. (James 1:19, Proverbs 18:2)

Start a Group!

You can start a group in your area. It’s very simple. Here’s how:

  1. Find a location. This can be a local cigar lounge, park, or even your own home. Be sure you have permission and that smoking is not going to cause any issues with your neighbors and community.
  2. Gather your friends. Get together on a regular basis. There is no membership requirement, just be respectful and abide by to the group guidelines above. You can meet weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.
  3. Once you get established, let us know! Contact Us though our website or send us a message on Facebook!
